Frequently Asked Questions
If your question is not answered in this section, please contact us by telephone or email us at email@example.com.
What are the check in and check out times?
Due to our limited capacity we will be running a different schedule for our reception. Reception will now be open from 07:00 – 11:00 and 17:00 – 23:00 each day. If you arrive between these times please ring the doorbell and one of our friendly staff will let you in, show you where to store your baggage and explain some of the rules of the hostel. You are then welcome to stay at the hostel or explore the city until your check in time.
Check in is any time after 17:00 – however, if you arrive earlier you can drop your bags in our secure luggage room and enjoy our facilities until then.
Check out is no later than 10:30 – for those wanting to stay longer, you can store your bags and enjoy the hostel all day if you wish.
Please contact the hostel if you will be arriving late at night.
What is the latest I can check in?

What is there to do in Edinburgh?
There is plenty to do both in the city centre and out of town. The medieval Old Town and the Georgian New Town give Edinburgh it’s title as a UNESCO World Heritage Site so there’s plenty to explore as well as a range of other fantastic attractions, great shopping and of course Edinburgh Castle!
Out of town there are options such as the 15th Century Rosslyn Chapel or why not take a MacBackpackers Tour and get into the Highlands of Scotland to visit the mysterious Nessie and explore the stunning Isle of Skye.
How do I get there from the airport / train station / bus station?
Castle Rock Hostel is within walking distance of Edinburgh’s St Andrews Square Bus Station and Edinburgh’s Waverley Train Station.
From the Edinburgh Airport take the blue airport bus no.100 (costs £4.50 one way and takes about 30 minutes) into the city centre and get off at Waverley Bridge.
There is a bus every 10 minutes to and from the airport. From there walk away from Princes St. towards a small roundabout and cross straight over the roundabout onto Cockburn Street.
At the top of Cockburn Street turn right and walk all the way up the Royal Mile until you reach the roundabout at The Hub (at the foot of Castlehill). Johnston Terrace is the second exit, and our hostel is on the left at the end of the terrace.
Is linen included?

Are there towels or hairdryers available?
